About the position

The Manager, Emergency Preparedness Logistics will lead and manage the development of an effective and comprehensive logistics response program. This individual is responsible for ensuring the logistical needs of the company are met prior to, during, and after an emergency, including planning and aligning the resources of the operating companies. This role is crucial in maintaining a state of readiness for all logistical needs, which encompasses Stores, Transportation, Environmental, food & lodging, facilities, mutual aid, storm technology, temporary staging, and satellite areas. The manager will develop practical solutions to support the emergency plan and ensure that contractual agreements and procedures are in place to execute logistics in support of emergency operations. In addition to overseeing logistics, the manager will conduct site visits to determine unique requirements for each location, including area work centers, staging areas, and mutual aid onboarding locations. They will also be responsible for developing and ensuring emergency contingency contracts to support emergency response efforts. Building partnerships with other emergency management professionals, particularly in logistics planning, is essential. The manager will develop standard logistical processes and procedures to support electric and gas business units and coordinate tri-state training summits and exercises. Effective communication, both written and verbal, is critical, especially under routine and emergency conditions, to ensure all involved in emergency restoration efforts are informed and coordinated. The manager will also provide direction to direct reports, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all logistical needs are in a state of readiness, including Stores, Transportation, Environmental, food & lodging, facilities, mutual aid, storm technology, temporary staging and satellite areas.
  • Develop practical solutions to support the emergency plan.
  • Ensure contractual agreements and procedures are in place to execute logistics in support of emergency operations.
  • Conduct site visits and determine unique requirements for each location (area work centers, staging areas, mutual aid onboarding locations).
  • Develop and ensure emergency contingency contracts to support emergency response.
  • Build partnerships with other emergency management professionals, especially in logistics planning.
  • Develop standard logistical processes and procedures to support electric and gas business units.
  • Coordinate and provide tri-state training summits and exercises.
  • Communicate in writing and verbally in a clear, effective and timely manner, under both routine and emergency conditions, with all involved in emergency restoration efforts.
  • Provide direction to direct report(s).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in logistics or emergency preparedness.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable work practices and procedures and safety requirements.
  • Working knowledge of information technology.
  • Thorough knowledge in logistics from procurement to deployment of resources is strongly preferred.
  • Change management skills to effectively pave the way for needed changes and manage implementation.
  • Ability to build relationships with a variety of people both up and down the management hierarchy, including officer levels.
  • Capacity to make sound decisions, solve problems creatively, and provide leadership.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytic skills to identify process gaps and recommend necessary changes for improvement.
  • Capability to work well under pressure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Emergency Management is preferred.
  • Six Sigma or equivalent certification is preferred.
