About the position

The Employee Relations Manager at CCC Intelligent Solutions plays a pivotal role in establishing a strategic and centralized employee relations function. This position is responsible for providing both strategic and operational leadership in the development, implementation, and management of employee relations policies, procedures, and compliance with applicable laws. The manager will set the standard for effective performance management, investigations, and disciplinary procedures, ensuring that all processes are handled consistently and ethically. This role also involves providing strategic direction and support for centralized HR programs, including onboarding and exit interview analysis, thereby enhancing the overall employee experience. In this role, the Employee Relations Manager will create strategies to standardize processes, tools, policies, and programs that support the employee relations function. Utilizing data and reporting, the manager will establish and analyze key metrics to identify trends and opportunities for process enhancement. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to identify HR needs and challenges, providing innovative solutions that drive organizational excellence. The manager will also develop and maintain HR policies and programs that align with legal requirements while fostering a positive work culture. The position requires proactive monitoring of employment law changes at various levels and assessing their impact on CCC's policies. The manager will provide guidance on leave of absence processes and consult on sensitive employee issues, including visa administration for employees. Engaging with stakeholders, the manager will manage project plans addressing legal changes and respond to sensitive concerns through internal investigations. Additionally, the manager will coach and develop a small team, ensuring a consistent approach to employee management during reorganizations and compliance with policies and laws. This role is integral to promoting CCC's values and culture, fostering an inclusive work environment, and building strong relationships across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Creates the strategy for and drives standardization of the processes, tools, policies and programs that support the employee relations function.
  • Utilizes data and reporting to establish and analyze key metrics to identify trends and opportunities to enhance processes, programs, and tools.
  • Partners with People and Culture team and HR Field to identify manager training or cultural interventions based on the data.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify and address HR needs and challenges, and provide innovative solutions to drive organizational excellence.
  • Develops and maintains HR policies, procedures, and programs to align with legal requirements while promoting a positive work culture.
  • Proactively scans for Federal, state, county, and city employment law changes and assesses impact on CCC's policies and programs.
  • Provides support and guidance to the Leave of Absence Specialist in the administration of leave of absence processes, including ADA, FMLA, Parental and Personal LOA, STD/LTD, and Worker's Compensation.
  • Engages with key stakeholders, secures alignment, creates and manages project plans to address legal changes.
  • Formally responds to sensitive concerns and allegations by conducting internal investigations into allegations of misconduct, poor performance, and violations of internal policies.
  • Provides subject matter expertise, support and direction to the HR business partners in the management of performance improvement plans in a matrixed environment.
  • Consults with HRBPs to ensure a consistent approach when employees are impacted by reorganizations; ensures compliance with all internal and external policies and laws.
  • Acts as a role model for CCC's values and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment for all employees.
  • Builds strong relationships with COE and HR Field, people leaders and employees at all levels.
  • Coaches, develops, and cross-trains a small but mighty team.
  • Stays updated on industry trends and best practices in HR, and proactively identifies areas for improvement.
  • Partners with Legal on sensitive employee relations matters.
  • Provides exit interview analysis and recommendations based on existing metrics.

Requirements

  • BA or BS degree
  • 7 years of work experience; at least 5 years of complex employee relations experience with emphasis on conflict resolution and investigations
  • HR Business Partner experience preferred
  • People management experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with the interpretation of complex legislation to ensure legal compliance and alignment with organizational programs and policies
  • Deep knowledge of EEO, FMLA, ADA, Workers Compensation, ERISA, and investigative claims processes
  • Demonstrated project management experience requiring cross-functional alignment and collaboration
  • Current with HR industry trends and best practices; knowledge-seeker and critical thinker who has applied learnings to prior roles
  • Demonstrated experience with constructive conflict management, resolution, and analysis
  • Understands change management methodologies and has applied them to programs and projects
  • Has operated with a continuous improvement mindset resulting in increased efficiency and effectiveness in prior roles
  • Excellent problem-solving and facilitation skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to influence across all levels
