As the Manager - Employee Relations at Bally's Chicago, you will play a pivotal role in supporting all aspects of labor and employee relations within a new and exciting venture that aims to establish a world-class entertainment destination in Chicago. You will be responsible for interpreting and applying the company's established policies and procedures regarding employee relations matters, ensuring fair and consistent application across the board. This includes reviewing written documentation, coaching team members and managers, and responding to unemployment insurance notices. You will conduct investigations related to team member relations and partner with leadership on performance improvement documentation. Your responsibilities will also include ensuring compliance with all regulatory, departmental, and company policies and procedures, assisting with timely notifications to the Illinois Gaming Board regarding employment separations, and managing monthly EEO-1 reports for new hires. You will work closely with department leadership on Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Leave of Absence (LOA) requests, and partner with them to analyze engagement survey results to create actionable plans aimed at improving employee satisfaction and retention. Monitoring turnover reports and taking proactive measures to decrease turnover while maintaining retention goals will be a key part of your role. You will also review and analyze grievances filed with HR, collaborating with senior leadership to create resolutions. Additionally, you will take a lead role in developing and implementing Human Resources policies and procedures that align with the company's employee relations philosophies, ensuring they are executed consistently and equitably. Consulting with legal and senior leadership to interpret employment laws will also be part of your responsibilities, as will assisting in team member programs and events.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply the company's established policies and procedures regarding employee relations matters.
  • Review all written documentation to ensure fair and consistent application of the policy.
  • Liaison with team members (coaching) and managers when appropriate.
  • Respond to unemployment insurance notices.
  • Conduct team member relation investigations and partner with leadership on performance improvement documentation.
  • Ensure department adheres to all regulatory, departmental, and company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with timely notification to IGB of all employment separations and monthly EEO-1 report for new hires.
  • Assist department leadership with all FMLA/LOA requests.
  • Partner with leadership regarding engagement surveys results to create an action plan.
  • Monitor monthly turnover reports and take action to decrease turnover and maintain retention goals.
  • Monitor department standards, guidelines, and objectives.
  • Review and analyze any grievances filed with HR and partner with senior leadership to create resolution.
  • Take a lead role in the development and implementation of Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Consult with legal and senior leadership to interpret employment laws for application to specific employee relations situations.
  • Assist in team member programs and events.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in employee & labor relations is mandatory.
  • Casino industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or work experience equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in regards to employee/labor relation situations.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to lead, influence without authority, and coach for success.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary Illinois State Gaming licensing.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
