About the position

The Energy Efficiency and Fuel Manager at Princess Cruises is responsible for tracking and improving vessel operational fuel efficiency across the fleet. This role involves analyzing various performance metrics, developing reports and dashboards, and collaborating with different departments to implement energy-saving initiatives. The position requires a strong analytical background and the ability to communicate effectively with management and technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Tracking vessel operational fuel efficiency, including voyage execution, power plant efficiency, auxiliary, hotel systems & hull performance.
  • Identifying and prioritizing action items related to fuel efficiency.
  • Supporting itinerary development from an energy efficiency perspective.
  • Collaborating on building fuel forecasts and tracking future forecast improvements.
  • Compiling, preparing, and developing vessel performance dashboards and reports.
  • Organizing and leading meetings on action items related to energy efficiency.
  • Developing or collaborating on novel energy efficiency platforms and systems.
  • Driving the use of energy efficiency platforms across the fleet as appropriate.
  • Collaborating with the PCL Energy Projects team to ensure operational implementation of energy savings projects.
  • Conducting cost savings validations for completed technical upgrades and fuel savings calculations for future projects.
  • Performing periodic and ad hoc analysis of vessel fuel consumption, energy efficiency, KPIs, and trending.
  • Collaborating on corporate energy efficiency and carbon reduction innovation and initiatives.
  • Staying updated on industry energy efficiency innovations and presenting findings to PCL leadership when appropriate.
  • Familiarizing and improving knowledge on ships' technical systems with efficiency opportunities and navigational operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Naval Architecture, Engineering, or Marine Engineering.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Energy management certificate and/or data analytics certificate.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a relevant role (e.g., energy management, marine or technical operations management).
  • Basic knowledge of marine bunkering operations, marine fuels, and shipboard operations.
  • Understanding of budgeting and forecasting techniques is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to manage multiple projects to completion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite of applications, advanced proficiency in Excel including look-ups, pivot tables, and macros.
  • Programming experience (Python, SQL) is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across different disciplines and cultures.
