About the position

The position is for an Environmental Remediation Engineer at Northrop Grumman, responsible for overseeing compliance, monitoring, permitting, and remediation projects. The role involves direct management of project activities to ensure adherence to environmental regulations and successful project execution. The engineer will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, manage a team of engineers, and drive sustainable remediation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and guide technical implementation of compliance, permitting and remediation activities to ensure project success.
  • Review/approve/monitor project-specific scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Participate in quarterly financial and performance reviews.
  • Compile project status and financial data for management reviews.
  • Oversee contractor bidding, selection and contract award process.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental requirements (e.g., EPA, RCRA, TSCA).
  • Oversee purchase requisition and invoice approval processes.
  • Perform routine program troubleshooting functions.
  • Implement sustainable remediation practices where applicable.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders on project status and milestones.
  • Manage a staff of project/compliance/remediation engineers.
  • Oversee execution of project strategies, forecasts, budgets, plans, and goals.
  • Review project status and technical and cost performance.
  • Assess project issues and develop solutions.
  • Provide for coaching and mentoring staff and sustaining engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 13+ years of experience in a manufacturing or consulting/engineering setting working with various environmental compliance media.
  • Proven leadership and management experience required.
  • Experience includes at least a BS degree from an accredited institution with a focus in an engineering field or relevant science field.
  • High Hazard industry experience - explosives, nuclear, petrochemical.
  • Demonstrated experience with Corrective Action Permitting, remediation, closure/post closure permitting.
  • Proven environmental compliance, permitting, remediation savvy and application.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, an exceptional self-starter attitude, and the ability to produce in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with Utah Division of Environmental Quality (UDEQ) environmental regulations and agencies.
  • Demonstrated detailed knowledge and experience with Utah Water Rights law.
  • Preferred breadth of experience working across all phases of environmental compliance and remediation US EPA, TSCA, RCRA, Water Quality, etc.
  • OBOD experience.
  • Demonstrated extensive permitting experience preferably with the UDEQ and EPA.
