About the position

The Manager Engineering - Autonomy & Automation position at Caterpillar involves leading a systems and software engineering team focused on developing key capabilities for Cat® MineStar™ products. This role emphasizes accountability for team performance, product development, and continuous improvement, while collaborating with global teams to deliver comprehensive solutions for mining production planning and automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and coach a systems/software team towards self-management and accountability.
• Supervise and manage employee performance and direct third-party labor.
• Manage product development initiatives, including budget establishment and staffing plans.
• Contribute to product and platform strategy, roadmap, and architecture definition.
• Communicate and gain buy-in on the product strategy and processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Experience in production planning and software development.
• Strong leadership skills and experience in managing teams.
• Proficiency in Agile methodologies and practices.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• Working knowledge of developing software applications for autonomous vehicles.
• Experience in leading Agile teams.
