About the position

The Systems and Software Engineering Manager at Caterpillar Inc. will lead the Autonomy and Automation (A&A) team in developing key capabilities for Cat® MineStar™ products. This role emphasizes people supervision, product development, and continuous improvement, focusing on machine onboard capabilities and collaboration with global teams to deliver comprehensive solutions for mining production planning and automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and coach a systems/software team towards self-management and accountability.
• Supervise and manage employee performance and direct third-party labor.
• Manage product development initiatives, including budget establishment and staffing plans.
• Contribute to product and platform strategy, roadmap, and architecture definition.
• Communicate and gain buy-in on the strategy and processes required for team success.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Experience in product development estimation, budget planning, and risk management.
• Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze situations effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt to various audiences.
• Technical expertise in autonomy, automation, and worksite management systems.

Nice-to-haves

• MS in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• Working knowledge of developing software applications for autonomous vehicles and/or MineStar products.
• Experience in leading an Agile team.
