About the position

The Manager of Engineering for Data and AI Architecture at FedEx Dataworks is responsible for leading the architecture and implementation of the organization's data and AI strategy. This role involves collaborating with executive leadership and various stakeholders to ensure that data and AI initiatives enhance FedEx's supply chain capabilities. The position requires a strong background in data architecture, AI technologies, and both cloud-native and legacy systems, with a focus on driving innovation and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, build, test, and maintenance of data pipelines at big data scale.
• Manage a team responsible for modeling and development to support operations initiatives and strategic programs.
• Implement optimal data and AI architecture using both open-source and commercial tools.
• Drive modernization of platform, data, and application architectures, transitioning legacy systems to cloud-native solutions.
• Ensure security, reliability, and maintainability of data and AI infrastructure.
• Translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights for senior leadership.
• Stay updated on the latest data and AI technologies and best practices.
• Mentor team members and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.
• Evaluate and select appropriate data and AI technologies and platforms.
• Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a quantitative discipline.
• Seven (7) years of equivalent work experience in measurement and analysis, quantitative business problem solving, and predictive analytics.
• Extensive knowledge in data engineering and machine learning frameworks.
• Strong understanding of the transportation industry and evolving technologies.
• Experience providing leadership in planning or consulting settings.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Experience with AI/ML integration into existing data infrastructures.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices for data pipelines.
