About the position

The Manager of Engineering at Roper St. Francis Healthcare is responsible for maintaining the highest level of plant and equipment readiness and operation. This role involves leading and supervising the Engineering team, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures, managing the Engineering Department budget, and overseeing customer service initiatives. The manager will also handle renovation and construction projects, promote energy conservation measures, and ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain plant and associated equipment readiness and operation.
  • Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance is performed to standards set forth by department policy and procedure.
  • Lead and supervise the Engineering team, including human resource management and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and execute the Engineering Department budget and manage financial performance.
  • Oversee customer service initiatives and workload management for maintenance and construction projects.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant guidelines, mandates, and codes.
  • Manage renovation and construction projects using project management techniques.
  • Participate in the Environment of Care Committee and implement energy conservation measures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Service Line Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and at least 2 years of engineering management and supervisory experience, OR an Associate's Degree and at least 5 years of engineering management and supervisory experience, OR a High School Diploma and at least 10 years of management experience.
  • Proven high-level engineering performance in a healthcare environment.
  • Supervisory experience leading at least 5 people is required.
  • Valid, current SC driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic knowledge of SC DHEC, TJC, NFPA, OSHA, EPA, and Fire and Life Safety Codes.
  • Computer skills for writing reports, composing emails, and using engineering and facility maintenance software programs including CAD.
