About the position

The Manager of Enterprise Quality Engineering & Test Automation at Costco IT is responsible for leading a team focused on global enterprise test automation and quality assurance. This role involves overseeing team performance, developing strategic visions, and ensuring alignment with company goals. The manager will drive continuous optimization of automation solutions, uphold testing best practices, and foster a culture of engagement and trust within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, develop, and lead a team of employees in the Enterprise Quality Engineering & Test Automation department.
  • Oversee global administration and oversight of enterprise test automation and quality assurance tooling.
  • Create mock integration services and oversee service virtualization, test data automation, and test account creation.
  • Drive continuous optimization of automation solutions and capture critical testing insights.
  • Establish and refine SLO driven metrics focusing on reliability, availability, capacity, security, and performance.
  • Create new capabilities and processes, implementing new toolsets to improve Automation and Quality Engineering.
  • Hire, train, and track performance of senior Automation and Support Engineers.
  • Foster a culture of diversity, intellectual curiosity, problem solving, and openness within the team.
  • Partner with project teams to achieve operational and reliability objectives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of related experience in Quality Engineering and Automation roles.
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud ecosystems (Azure, Google).
  • Extensive knowledge of Automation tools.
  • Experience formulating and executing a technical strategy and roadmap for the team.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure-as-code approaches and associated programming languages.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate teams.
  • Experience in taking projects from inception to production.
  • Prior experience in defining and setting measurable success criteria for Quality Engineering and Automation.
  • Experience in hiring, training, and leading a team of engineers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
  • Prior experience managing or leading a software development or support team in a large organization.
  • Experience developing and debugging CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience in incident management and facilitating retrospectives.
