About the position

The Manager of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) at Northrop Grumman is responsible for overseeing a team of health and safety professionals, ensuring compliance with industrial hygiene and safety programs. This role involves developing and implementing programs aimed at injury prevention and risk mitigation, managing incident investigations, and ensuring effective job hazard assessments. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to integrate EHS into operational processes and to maintain a culture of safety within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Industrial Hygiene and Safety programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.
  • Manage Industrial Hygiene programs and EHS professionals performing tasks such as air monitoring, hearing conservation, and ventilation surveys.
  • Manage Safety programs and EHS professionals performing tasks including electrical safety, lockout-tagout, and contractor safety.
  • Conduct incident investigations and manage hazardous materials and chemical tracking programs.
  • Oversee Industrial Hygiene and Safety Program budgets and contractors.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in industrial hygiene and safety programs.
  • Ensure effective job hazard assessments and appropriate hazard control approaches.
  • Conduct internal compliance inspections for industrial hygiene and safety programs.
  • Develop and perform EHS trainings for employees and management.
  • Collaborate with management to improve EHS culture and accountability.
  • Support the integration of EHS into new processes and construction projects.
  • Review and interpret EHS regulations to determine applicability and impact for the site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in industrial hygiene, safety, engineering, environmental science, or a related field, and a minimum of nine years of experience in EHS field with a focus in industrial hygiene and safety; or a Master's degree in the same fields with a minimum of seven years of experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership role managing a team of EHS professionals.
  • Extensive experience in conducting air monitoring, noise surveys, and incident investigations.
  • Experience in conducting personal protective equipment assessments and job hazard analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master of Science (MS) degree in industrial hygiene, safety, engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Tableau.
  • Experience in interacting with a union labor workforce.
