About the position
The EHS Manager will lead and facilitate the integration of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) processes and standard operating procedures. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with local, federal, and state regulations while promoting a safe and healthy working environment. The EHS Manager will spend significant time in operations, observing, monitoring, training, and coaching employees to achieve EHS goals and initiatives, thereby fostering a productive EHS work culture.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EHS regulations and industry best practices.
- Lead EHS permitting processes and liaise with local regulatory authorities.
- Support programs to assure compliance with industrial safety, ergonomics, chemical safety, and environmental protection requirements.
- Drive the implementation of CHG EHS Programs and continuous improvement in EHS performance.
- Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections to identify potential hazards.
- Oversee incident reporting, investigation, and corrective actions.
- Conduct EHS training courses for assigned program areas.
- Maintain accurate records of EHS activities, training, and compliance audits.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in EHS management, preferably in food manufacturing.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote).
- Ability to read, understand, interpret and apply applicable EHS regulations.
Nice-to-haves
- ASP or CSP certification is a plus.
- Experience in food manufacturing and a basic understanding of plant operations.
