About the position

The Event Experience Manager is responsible for curating and delivering engaging and personalized event experiences that foster attendee engagement, loyalty, and retention. This role involves collaborating with project teams to develop content, managing event logistics, and ensuring that events align with the company's objectives. The manager will lead a team of event planners and will focus on enhancing the attendee journey through innovative design and technology, while also promoting sustainability and diversity in all events.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project teams to develop the right mix of content to motivate attendees.
  • Develop high-level messages for events and tailor content to reinforce them.
  • Incorporate client-led and industry expert-led sessions addressing pertinent topics.
  • Introduce paid keynote speakers on engaging topics.
  • Encourage stakeholders to adopt interactive session formats beyond traditional lectures.
  • Maintain awareness of generational shifts and industry trends to incorporate into events.
  • Ensure adequate speaker training and feedback is provided.
  • Recommend necessary tools for content delivery, such as live polling and audio streaming.
  • Engage participants through interactive design concepts and adaptable spaces.
  • Curate networking opportunities using digital tools and physical props.
  • Coordinate unexpected elements like surprise speakers and unique environments.
  • Celebrate local culture and encourage participation in corporate social responsibility.
  • Allow participants to opt-in to blinded events for unique experiences.
  • Introduce AI tools for peer-to-peer meetings through mobile apps.
  • Promote events on social media to connect with attendees and encourage engagement.
  • Ensure events support sustainability goals and minimize environmental impact.
  • Develop programs promoting corporate social responsibility and high standards for DEI.
  • Coordinate attendee journey aspects with the Event Technologist for maximum benefits.
  • Ensure exhibitor or sponsor activities add value to the attendee experience.
  • Hire, train, and manage a team of corporate event planners.
  • Manage a master event project list and assign resources effectively.
  • Develop and institute event planning best practices.
  • Maintain strong relationships with business partners and suppliers.
  • Ensure events stay on-budget and manage any overages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or comparable work experience.
  • 10+ years related work experience in a corporate, agency, or hospitality industry environment.
  • CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) required.
  • CMM (Certified Meeting Manager) preferred.
  • DES (Digital Event Strategist) certification preferred.
  • Project management experience with prioritization and delegation skills.
  • Strong communication skills to convey tasks and feedback effectively.
  • Analytic thinking skills to evaluate performance and recommend improvements.
  • Ability to anticipate complications and develop contingency plans.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Basic understanding of Public Sector Software and marketing concepts.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
