About the position

The Manager, Event Operations is responsible for the success of Leap Event Technology's live event operations projects. Leap supports the world's most iconic brands to create electrifying experiences. Our clients, live event organizers, rely on Leap to deliver world-class onsite technology and hardware solutions in fandom conventions, attractions, sports, music, and comedy. Leap's Event Operations team manages the preparation and deployment of all Leap Event Technology products onsite at live events around the globe. As a Manager, Event Operations, you will lead a team of live event professionals to help our clients execute their events. Reporting to the Director of Event Operations, the Manager is a leader at Leap, responsible for creating an environment where our Event Operations team can deliver best-in-class client service. You will work across multiple departments to ensure that our clients are set up for success at the final stage of every project, and, in addition to leading others, you'll be responsible for executing the successful rollout of our technology on the ground at events. Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse Event Operations team, promoting a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration
  • Manage a portfolio of events and execute large onsite deployments for Leap Event Technology (25+ events per year; multiple large events simultaneously)
  • Actively seek areas of improvement for the team and spearhead these initiatives
  • Work independently and creatively to deliver exceptional client service
  • Be proficient with the hardware and software applications that Leap Event Technology uses to execute live events. Maintain an expert-level proficiency in at least three (3) products. Understand product integrations
  • Own and manage your section of the Event Operations budget to support the company's financial goals. Create and manage budgets for each event; control costs; ensure costs are projected correctly and exceptions are noted
  • Collaborate with the Fulfillment Coordinator, engage with clients and fulfillment partners on fulfillment needs, and monitor timelines for projects with fulfillment
  • Provide escalation support to the Client Support team
  • Perform remote system support and upgrade procedures
  • Publish and maintain system technical documentation
  • Travel to support events and ensure onsite operations meet Leap Event Technology's high standards
  • Engage with Product to participate in development and QA testing for onsite applications; provide product feedback and serve as Product stakeholder
  • Quality Assurance: Perform system QA and end-user testing
  • Collaborate with project team to create operations plans
  • Manage vendor, partner, and contractor relationships and programs
  • Stay up to date on new event technology and ensure Leap Event Technology is constantly evolving and meeting industry standards
  • Work in cross-department environments to guarantee that software development aligns with the on-site goals of our operations team

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Budgeting experience required
  • 8+ years experience in the live events industry or military
  • 5+ years of experience managing large scale event production, live event planning, or military deployment required
  • 3+ years of experience managing and supervising multiple direct reports required
  • 3+ years work travel experience; be an expert at traveling and working from unique environments while on the go
  • Familiarity with contracts and business agreements
  • Strong technical understanding of IT, software, and hardware
  • 3+ years of experience with on site or remote client technical support required
  • 3+ years of experience with IP networking and networking installations
  • Solid understanding of how to navigate both Android and iOS products
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Excel preferred
  • Ability to foresee operational issues before they occur and proactively mitigate risk
  • Strong professional communication skills, and ability to confidently interact with professionals of all backgrounds
  • Must be fluent in English with exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong team-building skills and ability to motivate others
  • Excellent project management skills
  • High regard for personal safety and safety of the teams onsite
  • Ability to self-start and complete tasks independently
  • Possess a passion for creating live event experiences with an eye for improving the customer experience
