About the position

The Manager, Event Security position at Rays Baseball Club LLC is a critical role responsible for overseeing security operations for all events held at Tropicana Field and Al Lang Stadium. This includes Major League Baseball games, professional soccer matches, concerts, private events, and community-sponsored events. The individual in this position will play a key leadership role in ensuring the safety and security of fans and guests while providing an exceptional experience at these unique sports and entertainment venues. In this role, the Manager will lead the security program and operations during Tampa Bay Rays home games and other events at Tropicana Field, as well as during Tampa Bay Rowdies matches and events at Al Lang Stadium. The Manager will be responsible for managing the Event Command Center, maintaining relationships with third-party security providers, and developing security staffing plans for special and private events. Additionally, the Manager will oversee event credential requirements and access, assist in developing and documenting security procedures and protocols, and stay informed about the latest security technology and best practices. The position also involves assisting with emergency preparedness, conducting drills and training, reviewing and processing security-related invoices, and participating in budget development and review. The Manager will oversee guest recovery initiatives related to security and work closely with facilities and operations staff to maximize operational efficiencies during events. Collaboration with other departments during the event planning process is essential to ensure that organizational goals are met and initiatives are successful. Furthermore, the Manager will be responsible for managing security assets such as screening technology and emergency preparedness equipment, keeping organizational leadership informed of relevant information and critical incidents, and ensuring compliance with all relevant certifications and best practices requirements.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of security and security management experience at professional sports venues or similar venues
  • Significant experience and training in security planning, screening operations, event operations, crowd management, and physical security
  • Experience and/or training with video management systems, access control and credentialing
  • High standards for safety and security while enhancing the fan experience
