About the position

The Manager, Event Security position plays a vital role in overseeing security operations for all events held at Tropicana Field and Al Lang Stadium. This includes Major League Baseball games, professional soccer matches, and various special events such as concerts and private gatherings. The individual in this role is a key leader responsible for ensuring the highest level of fan and guest experience at these unique sports and entertainment venues. The Manager will lead the security program and operations during Tampa Bay Rays home games and other stadium events, as well as during Tampa Bay Rowdies matches at Al Lang Stadium. In addition to leading security operations, the Manager will manage the Event Command Center and maintain relationships with third-party security providers. They will be tasked with developing security staffing plans for special and private events, managing event credential requirements, and ensuring proper access control. The Manager will also play a crucial role in developing, enhancing, and documenting security procedures and protocols, staying informed about the latest security technology and best practices. The position requires collaboration with various departments during the event planning process to ensure that organizational goals are met and initiatives are successful. The Manager will oversee security assets, including screening technology and emergency preparedness equipment, and will keep organizational leadership informed of relevant information and critical incidents. Compliance with all relevant certifications and best practices is essential in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead security program and operations during Tampa Bay Rays home games and other stadium events at Tropicana Field
  • Lead security program and operations during Tampa Bay Rowdies matches and other stadium events at Al Lang Stadium
  • Manage the Event Command Center
  • Manage relationship with third-party security provider
  • Develop security staffing plans for special events and private events
  • Manage event credential requirements and access
  • Help develop, enhance and document security procedures and protocols
  • Stay informed regarding security technology and best practices
  • Assist with emergency preparedness, drills, and training
  • Review and process security related invoices utilizing finance software
  • Assist in budget development and review
  • Oversee guest recovery initiatives related to security
  • Work closely with facilities and operations staff to maximize operational efficiencies during events
  • Collaborate with other departments during the event planning process to ensure organizational goals are met
  • Manage security assets such as screening technology and emergency preparedness equipment
  • Keep organizational leadership apprised of relevant information and critical incidents
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant certifications and best practices requirements

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of security and security management experience at professional sports venues or similar venues
  • Significant experience and training in security planning, screening operations, event operations, crowd management, and physical security
  • Experience and/or training with video management systems, access control and credentialing
  • High standards for safety and security while enhancing the fan experience
