About the position

The Manager of Event Services at Texas A&M University plays a crucial role in overseeing centralized conference services within the University Center & Special Events department. This position is responsible for managing a variety of events, including meetings, training sessions, conferences, and special events, ensuring that all aspects of event planning and execution are handled with professionalism and attention to detail. The Event Services Manager serves as the primary point of contact for clients, guiding them through the event planning process from conception to execution. This includes meeting with clients to understand their needs, scheduling space and equipment, and coordinating staff to ensure a successful event. In addition to client interaction, the Manager will be responsible for designing event diagrams or CAD drawings to meet client expectations and ensuring that all necessary paperwork is completed. The role requires strong communication skills, as the Manager will work closely with sponsors, university officials, and various stakeholders to coordinate event details, advise on university policies, and recommend activities that enhance the event experience. The Manager will also oversee the development and maintenance of facility and event calendars, ensuring that all events are properly scheduled and communicated to relevant parties. The position requires leadership in supervising staff responsible for the setup, execution, and removal of event equipment. The Manager will provide training and feedback to ensure that staff are well-prepared to meet event expectations. Additionally, the Manager will develop training materials and coordinate new employee training each semester. Responsibilities

  • Communicate with sponsors and university officials regarding event details and requirements.

  • Provide training and feedback to staff to ensure successful event execution.
  • Coordinate new student employee training each semester and develop training materials.
  • Represent the Event Services unit in various university committees and task forces.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of experience in event coordination, hospitality, or customer service roles.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with a diverse clientele.
  • Experience managing teams in the execution of events.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Nice-to-haves
