Energy Recovery is seeking a qualified candidate for an immediate full-time job opening for the position of Experimental & Validation Engineer Manager, reporting to the Sr. Director of Product and Sustaining Engineering within the Engineering department in San Leandro, CA facility. The Engineering department is a dynamic group of engineers and technicians with a wide range of backgrounds. We are looking for talented and energetic candidates who thrive in a team environment. The candidate will work in multidisciplinary teams on clean-sheet designs to develop disruptive technologies based on proprietary isobaric pressure exchanges. This position's responsibilities are managing a team of engineers and specialized technicians as they develop and execute experiments to validate novel applications or improvements to existing technologies and upgrading and maintaining our in-house test loops. In this role, the candidate and the respective team will work closely with a group of engineers to transition system & equipment models into practical proofs. The Experimental Engineering manager will support engineering studies and design verification activities. They will lead the team as they execute testing plans in designated timelines and within budgets. The role involves designing new test loops and upgrades to preexisting ones, developing new/innovative experimental techniques to breakdown & resolve difficult engineering challenges, and evaluating the reliability of pressure exchanger technologies and supporting equipment within a system. The manager will also manage working relationships with all internal and external customers, test pressure exchangers to be used in CO2-based applications (refrigeration, heat pump, etc.), perform studies of pressure exchangers used in reverse osmosis desalination, and lead performance evaluation of pressure exchangers deployed in industrial wastewater applications. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for developing junior team members towards professional maturity, creating policies and procedures necessary to ensure quality, efficient, and cost-effective experimentation, and cultivating a culture of safety within the team.
