About the position

The Manager - Data Center Operations is a leadership role responsible for overseeing all operational aspects and uptime of the data center. This includes managing technical expertise and program management for the maintenance and operation of critical infrastructure such as electrical, mechanical, fire life safety, security, and communications systems. The manager ensures operational efficiency, compliance, and customer support while leading a team of data center operations staff.

Responsibilities

• Advise the Director Data Center Operations in the development and supervision of the facility maintenance program.
• Demonstrate technical knowledge in telecom, cabling, electrical and mechanical support systems.
• Ensure data center operates at maximum operational efficiency and recommend new technologies.
• Complete CoreSite's Data Center Operations Qualification Program within the first nine months of employment.
• Serve as the senior technical point of contact for maintenance and operation of site support systems.
• Participate in facility design and construction related to site operation and security.
• Develop and implement new maintenance standards with Market Leader approval.
• Ensure proper installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Supervise subcontractor work performance to ensure adherence to standards.
• Maintain the database management of maintenance discrepancies.
• Ensure operational, maintenance, and emergency Methods of Procedures are developed and audited.
• Mentor and provide training for personnel in maintenance planning and scheduling.
• Assist in developing and maintaining departmental budgets focusing on cost-saving methods.
• Lead customer meetings to review happenings on site.
• Lead root cause analysis process for abnormal occurrences in the data center.
• Assist peers with developing teams and customer tours.

Requirements

• Expert understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in a data center environment.
• Expert knowledge of fiber optics and cabling infrastructure best practices.
• Expert knowledge in industrial safety best practices and regulations.
• Expert knowledge of data trending and analysis using integrated critical monitoring systems.
• Expert knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and NEC standards.
• Strong background in commissioning electrical, mechanical, protection, and controls systems.
• Expert knowledge in physical security and security systems.
• Proven knowledge of tenant contracts.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in large commercial and industrial systems.
• Experienced people manager across multiple disciplines.
• Expert vendor management skills including service contract management.
• Experienced project management skills including budgeting and schedule creation.
• Excellent skills in facility budgeting and forecasting.
