About the position

The Facilities Engineering Manager at Abbott's Sturgis, MI location is responsible for providing technical engineering support to maximize the availability of manufacturing and test equipment while ensuring a safe and compliant working environment. This role involves planning, implementing, and managing major engineering projects, overseeing departmental budgets, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards in compliance with FDA and OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical engineering support to maximize equipment availability.
• Plan, implement, and manage major engineering projects including validation activities.
• Manage departmental/project budgets within targets and implement Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP).
• Ensure projects meet quality requirements of stakeholders, including customers and auditors.
• Measure and report progress against approved timelines.
• Act as an effective project leader or team member, supporting timelines and quality disciplines.
• Ensure prompt attention to risks that may adversely affect product and safety.
• Conduct business in a manner protective of human health, safety, and the environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Chemical preferred).
• 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
• 8+ years of engineering experience.
• Strong communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a regulated industry such as food/nutrition manufacturing, medical device, or pharmaceuticals.
• Experience managing contractor work.
• PowerPoint visual reporting experience.
