About the position

The Manager of Facility Management at CommonSpirit Health is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of facilities within a single hospital or health center. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including the management of additional departments such as Plant Operations, Environmental Services, Security, and Environmental Safety. The Manager will also be involved in project management, particularly in minor construction and building renovation projects, ensuring that all operations align with the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, as well as the mission and core values of CommonSpirit Health. In this position, the Manager will oversee a facility that spans approximately 500,000 square feet and has fewer than 250 licensed beds. Key responsibilities include conducting monthly department meetings, ensuring timely reporting, maintaining regulatory compliance, and managing key performance indicators. The Manager will also be tasked with developing capital and operational budgets, ensuring the appropriate use of staff and resources, and achieving financial performance targets. This includes managing expenses, adhering to expenditure authority, and ensuring compliance with Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) contracts. The role requires the Manager to ensure that all maintenance procedures meet applicable codes and standards, as well as to oversee the recruitment, training, and development of staff. This includes conducting performance evaluations and fostering a positive working environment. The Manager will also be responsible for maintaining communication with staff, leadership, and customers, ensuring that client reports are delivered promptly to divisional leadership. Additionally, the Manager will oversee the annual Program Quality Evaluation (PQE) process, ensuring continued accreditation and compliance with regulatory agencies such as OSHA, EPA, and The Joint Commission. The position also involves managing customer satisfaction surveys and implementing continuous improvement initiatives that support operational excellence and financial stewardship. The Manager will support construction-related activities and provide advisory input in the development and implementation of the Master Facility Plan as required.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive leadership experience, with at least 2 years in hospital maintenance or medical equipment operations management.
  • Professional designation, licensure, or certification preferred (e.g., CHFM, CHC, PE).
  • Experience in construction, safety, and security preferred.
  • Demonstrated financial and operational management skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
