About the position
Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Facilities Manager to oversee the operations for maintenance, repair, and improvement of physical systems and equipment within our healthcare environment. This role is crucial in ensuring that our facility operates efficiently and effectively, providing a safe and compliant environment for our patients and staff. The Facilities Manager will be responsible for managing vendor relations, controlling costs, and ensuring that all operations comply with relevant regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of major systems and operations, including boilers, HVAC, medical gas systems, mechanical-electrical systems, and energy management systems. They will also be knowledgeable about code compliance and enforcement, as well as blueprints and construction documents. This position requires strong leadership skills, as the Facilities Manager will be responsible for coaching and managing a team to achieve optimal performance. This includes delegating tasks, managing performance, defining clear roles and responsibilities, and adjusting plans as necessary to meet the needs of the facility. In addition to technical expertise, the Facilities Manager will play a key role in fostering a culture of excellence within the team, ensuring that all staff are aligned with the organization's mission of providing high-quality care to the community. This position is vital to maintaining the integrity and functionality of the medical center's physical environment, which directly impacts patient care and safety.
Responsibilities
- Manage the operations for maintenance, repair, and improvement of physical systems and equipment.
- Oversee vendor relations and cost control for the facility and/or campus.
- Ensure compliance with rules, regulations, licensure, accreditation, and laws applicable to hospital and department operations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of major systems and operations including boilers, HVAC, medical gas systems, and energy management systems.
- Manage and coach team members to achieve optimal performance, including delegation and performance management.
- Define clear roles and responsibilities for team members and adjust plans as necessary.
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years of plant operations/facilities experience or a related field.
- Associates degree or a combination of education and managerial experience in a related field in lieu of the degree required.
