About the position

The Manager of Facility Management at CommonSpirit Health is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of facilities within a hospital or health center. This role includes managing various departments, ensuring compliance with regulations, and leading projects related to construction and renovation. The manager is also tasked with financial performance, staff recruitment and training, and enhancing customer satisfaction within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of a single acute care facility totaling approximately 500,000 square feet and less than 250 licensed beds.
  • Oversee additional departments such as Environmental Services, Dietary, Transportation, Laundry, and Security.
  • Conduct project management and oversight of minor construction and building renovation projects.
  • Ensure departmental financial performance and adherence to budgets.
  • Recruit, train, and develop staff, conducting necessary meetings and performance evaluations.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and ensure timely delivery of reports to leadership.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to support operational excellence.
  • Manage customer satisfaction surveys and foster positive relationships with hospital administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive leadership experience, with at least 2 years in hospital maintenance or medical equipment operations management.
  • Strong financial planning skills, including budget development and project budgeting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with all levels of staff.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional designation or certification (e.g., CHFM, CHC, PE) preferred.
  • Experience in construction, safety, and security management.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry codes and standards.
