About the position

AESC is seeking a Facility Purchasing Manager to oversee procurement activities at its Smyrna, TN location. This role involves managing the procurement process, ensuring timely delivery of parts, and collaborating with business leaders to align procurement strategies with operational needs. The position requires strong negotiation skills and experience in supplier relationship management, particularly in the manufacturing and lithium battery sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee facility-based procurement activities, including order placement, tracking, delivery, and after-sales support.
  • Manage the signing, performance, quality assurance, and auditing of service procurement contracts.
  • Ensure timely delivery of spare and non-standard parts by implementing effective procurement strategies.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to align procurement activities with delivery requirements.
  • Handle emergency procurement needs within authorized limits to support urgent operational requirements.
  • Streamline procurement processes to enhance team performance and cultivate talent within the organization.
  • Facilitate collaboration between facilities and the procurement center to identify and leverage centralized purchasing opportunities.
  • Continuously refine indirect procurement category management and maintain a dynamic cost-competitive material price database.
  • Manage supplier relationships, actively sourcing high-quality suppliers and building a robust supplier database focused on reliability and delivery performance.
  • Identify and resolve inefficiencies within existing procurement processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; a background in science or engineering from a top university is preferred.
  • Over 5 years of procurement experience, with at least 3 years in a management role; experience in the lithium battery industry is a plus.
  • Proven experience collaborating with international suppliers.
  • Strong negotiation skills and effective communication abilities to secure optimal purchasing conditions.
  • Experience working in the manufacturing industry.
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards.
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant certifications in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) are highly desirable.
