About the position

The Manager of Facility Services at Beacon Health System is responsible for overseeing the continuous and efficient operation of maintenance programs for the hospital's mechanical and electrical equipment and facilities. This role involves developing and implementing departmental policies, managing staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff. The position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to analyze and resolve equipment malfunctions while managing budgets and contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the performance of all hospital life support systems, including fire systems and medical gas equipment.
  • Manage and maintain the status of equipment, ensuring specifications are met and preventive maintenance is performed.
  • Analyze equipment malfunctions and recommend necessary actions to prevent recurring issues.
  • Assist in developing recommendations for hospital utility and plant engineering requirements.
  • Supervise assigned professional staff engaged in engineering services repairs.
  • Ensure work areas are safe, clean, and orderly for staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Develop and implement department policies and procedures for Facilities Engineering.
  • Assist in negotiating system-wide contracts for various services.
  • Develop quality assurance programs and equipment status reports.
  • Provide leadership and skill development for assigned staff.
  • Schedule and assign workload to staff, and monitor performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of facilities management and engineering experience in a hospital environment.
  • CPR and BLS Certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of standard operating procedures for facility services and repair techniques.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local standards and codes.
  • Strong management skills to effectively plan, manage, and evaluate staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics, analyze work, and calculate costs.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including email, word processing, and spreadsheets.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial management in a healthcare setting.
