About the position
Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with 283 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time. The Finance Data Science and Engineering team partners closely with Accounting, FP&A, Strategy, Treasury, Tax, and the other teams in our CFO organization. We also work closely with our Engineering and Product Management teams to influence and manage data and products for our business partners. We're on a multi-year journey to improve our financial systems, data management, build data science capabilities, and drive optimizations in our 'business of the business.' As a leader in this domain, you'll work closely with partner teams to think big picture about our business goals and how we achieve them through the application of data and science. Your team will apply strong analytical rigor to evaluate ideas, dissect problems, build solutions, and provide recommendations and drive success.
Responsibilities
- Lead, inspire, and grow high-performing Analytics Engineers, and integrate work from Data Engineering and Data Science partners.
- Create a vision and build a portfolio of solutions ranging from data and analytic products through models and applied AI.
- Identify areas of finance that can be improved or optimized through the application of data science techniques.
- Take a consultative approach to develop and deliver strategic insights to improve or optimize multiple areas of finance.
- Act as an ambassador between the Product, Engineering, Strategy, and DSE teams by having a deep knowledge of how Netflix operates as a business.
- Instill an inclusive culture that is innovative and collaborative, both within your team and in the broader organization.
Requirements
- Has experience building and leading hybrid Analytics and Data Science teams in the Finance domain of medium-sized businesses, ideally in tech, media, or entertainment industries.
- Is deeply experienced with data warehousing and analytic concepts, and has applied data science experience in the Finance domain.
- Superbly communicates - you must be able to cultivate strong working relationships, communicate effectively, write meticulously, and give outstanding presentations to both technical and creative audiences.
- Has a proven track record of partnering cross-functionally with embedded analytic, engineering, and product teams.
- Has demonstrated tenacity, resilience, and leadership experience that enables you to organize and drive cross-functional projects, propose solutions, and overcome challenges.
