About the position

Magellan Aerospace, a global leader in aerospace manufacturing, is seeking a Finance Manager for its Haverhill, MA location. This role is pivotal in overseeing the financial operations of the division, ensuring that all accounting and control functions are executed efficiently. The Finance Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the financial activities of the division, which includes profit planning, sales forecasting, expense budgeting, and capital investment strategies. The successful candidate will report operational results and provide comprehensive financial analysis to all levels of management, ensuring that the division meets its financial objectives. In this role, the Finance Manager will develop and implement a robust operational and organizational plan that aligns with the overall business strategy. This includes formulating accounting policies, preparing financial statements, and coordinating systems and procedures to enhance operational efficiency. The Finance Manager will also forecast cash requirements, monitor credit and collection applications, and ensure the protection of the company’s assets through effective internal controls and auditing processes. The Finance Manager will play a key role in advising the Division Manager on financial matters, executing cash disbursements, monitoring inventory levels, and developing budgets. This position requires strong leadership skills, as the Finance Manager will be responsible for managing direct reports, conducting performance appraisals, and ensuring that effective communication and employee relations are maintained within the team. The ideal candidate will have a participative management style and a proven ability to motivate and develop personnel, fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct, and control the accounting and control function of the division.
  • Coordinate and administer a plan for the control of operations, including profit planning and expense budgets.
  • Compare performance with operating plans and standards, providing reports to management.
  • Forecast short-range and long-range cash requirements and obligations.
  • Assure protection for the assets of the business through internal control and auditing.
  • Monitor credit and collection applications, approving terms above a predetermined dollar amount.
  • Assist Programs in establishing and maintaining product pricing policies.
  • Develop and present matters requiring the Division Manager's decision.
  • Authorize expenditures in accordance with the budget and approve budget and expenses of subordinates.
  • Develop short- and long-range operating objectives and staffing requirements.
  • Monitor performance of direct reports and provide coaching and counseling as needed.
  • Ensure effective communication and employee relations within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years' experience in increasingly responsible management positions within Finance.
  • At least two (2) years' recent experience as a Finance Manager or Controller.
  • Strong administrative and management skills, with superior numeric and communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to recruit, train, and motivate personnel effectively.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities, with a results-oriented mindset.
