About the position

The Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis at Tucson Electric Power will play a pivotal role in leading the preparation of both short-term and long-term financial forecasts for the company and its affiliates. This position is responsible for coordinating and preparing financial analyses that support corporate decision-making processes. The manager will oversee the creation of accurate and meaningful financial forecasts, ensuring that the forecasts reflect the company's operating plans and business strategies. This role requires a strong emphasis on team development and training, as the manager will be responsible for creating and leading a team dedicated to financial forecasting. In addition to forecasting, the manager will establish and manage forecast controls to ensure ongoing accuracy and reliability. They will need to understand all facets of the business to make informed forecast assumptions and lead the financial planning team effectively. The position also involves coordinating forecast assumptions with various planning partners, including Supply-side Planning, Retail Forecasting, Corporate Budgeting, and Rates. The manager will provide complex forecasts to support goodwill impairment testing and expected returns on equity by company and jurisdiction. The role includes significant management responsibilities, ensuring that the company's management principles, policies, and programs are consistently practiced. The manager will assume fiduciary responsibility for operating the business and will provide recommendations on cost improvement measures. They will also administer personnel functions, including recruiting, job description reviews, and performance management, while promoting the professional development and personal growth of staff members. This position is crucial for maintaining the integrity of financial planning and analysis within the organization, contributing to the overall success of Tucson Electric Power.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the preparation of short-term and long-term financial forecasts for the Company and its affiliates.
  • Coordinates and prepares financial analyses in support of corporate decision making.
  • Responsible for creating and leading a team that produces accurate and meaningful financial forecasting.
  • Establishes and manages forecast controls to ensure ongoing accuracy and strength of the forecast.
  • Coordinates forecast assumptions with all planning partners including Supply-side Planning, Retail Forecasting, Corporate Budgeting, and Rates.
  • Provides complex forecasts to support goodwill impairment testing and expected returns on equity by company and jurisdiction.
  • Acts as a key liaison to the Fortis planning and investor relations teams.
  • Administers personnel functions, including recruiting, review and approval of job descriptions and salary classifications, and selection and placement of personnel.
  • Promotes and participates in the professional development, personal growth, and career planning of staff.

Requirements

  • A college degree in finance, accounting or related field of study.
  • Six to seven years of relevant experience in financial planning and analysis.
  • An advanced business degree or professional designation (e.g., CPA, CFA) may substitute for two years of work experience.
  • Advanced financial analysis skills and a firm grasp of financial accounting principles.
  • Basic knowledge of economics and quantitative analysis.
  • Proficiency in PC spreadsheet software and related applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
