About the position

The Manager for On-Board Communications will oversee the implementation of communication systems for the modernization program of NYC's largest transportation agency. This role involves leading the installation, testing, and commissioning of on-board systems while ensuring compliance with safety standards and effective collaboration with suppliers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of CBTC on-board communication systems, ensuring alignment with project schedules and organizational objectives.
  • Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of on-board systems, addressing technical challenges as they arise.
  • Collaborate with safety and regulatory entities to ensure on-board systems comply with all safety standards and guidelines.
  • Work closely with suppliers and vendors to secure high-quality equipment and materials for on-board communication systems.
  • Provide technical and managerial support for ongoing projects related to CBTC and on-board communication systems.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, including operations, engineering, and procurement, to ensure seamless integration of on-board systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience managing complex transit system projects, with a focus on on-board communication or signaling systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with CBTC or similar advanced train control systems is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in system integration and testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory requirements for transit systems.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols and equipment used in CBTC or related systems.
  • Strong leadership and project management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and disciplines.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
