About the position

The Manager for Performance and Implementation will oversee the modernization program for NYC's largest transportation agency. This role focuses on performance management, implementation oversight, process improvement, and stakeholder collaboration to enhance operational efficiency and achieve organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate operational performance across departments, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Develop performance metrics and reporting systems to track progress and measure success.
  • Prepare detailed performance reports and present findings to senior leadership.
  • Manage the planning and execution of strategic initiatives and projects to achieve organizational goals.
  • Ensure alignment of implementation plans with the organization's mission, objectives, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate risks that may impact project timelines, budgets, or outcomes.
  • Conduct analyses to identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions to enhance productivity and effectiveness.
  • Implement best practices, innovative methodologies, and tools to improve service delivery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to streamline processes and optimize resource allocation.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including operations, engineering, and finance, to ensure cohesive project execution.
  • Act as a liaison between departments to foster clear communication and alignment on goals.
  • Represent the agency in meetings with external partners, community groups, and other transit organizations.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Public Administration or a related field, or;
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in project management, transit systems, or a related technical field.
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale projects in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Expertise in engineering principles, project management methodologies, and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of project management frameworks and tools (e.g., Agile, PMP, or Lean methodologies).
  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities, with the capacity to engage diverse audiences.
