About the position

The Manager FP&A - Strategic Tech Finance at Capital One is a pivotal role that provides essential financial support to the FP&A Tech Strategy Finance team. This position involves the development of methodologies and processes that enhance transparency in financial results, as well as analyzing current financial outcomes to identify and address evolving business issues and opportunities. The role is integral in supporting Capital One's Tech function as they plan for new initiatives, requiring a strong ability to communicate effectively, solve problems, and collaborate across various functions within the organization. In this role, the manager will be responsible for articulating the outcomes of financial analyses and providing relevant insights to business leadership. This includes assessing the financial implications of various initiatives and developing presentations to communicate business and analysis results to senior leadership audiences. The responsibilities also encompass financial analysis and reporting, where the manager will accurately analyze and explain key drivers while managing the regular reporting process. Additionally, the role involves budgeting, forecasting, and Profit & Loss (P&L) management, ensuring that financial strategies align with the company's objectives. The manager will also assist in the development of executive business presentations, clearly articulating the outcomes of analyses to leadership teams. Handling ad-hoc requests related to acquisition topics and independently managing, prioritizing, and delegating tasks are also key components of this position. The manager will act as a project lead for certain responsibilities on the team, ensuring that all financial operations are executed efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial support for the FP&A Tech Strategy Finance team.
  • Develop methodologies and processes for financial transparency.
  • Analyze current financial results to identify business issues and opportunities.
  • Support Capital One's Tech function in planning new initiatives.
  • Articulate outcomes of analysis and relevant insights to business leadership.
  • Partner with business leadership to assess financial implications of initiatives.
  • Develop presentations to communicate business and analysis results to senior leadership.
  • Accurately analyze and explain key drivers in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Manage the regular reporting process for financial results.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and Profit & Loss (P&L) management.
  • Assist in the development of executive business presentations.
  • Handle ad-hoc requests on acquisition-related topics.
  • Independently manage, prioritize, and delegate tasks within the team.
  • Act as project lead for certain responsibilities on the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience.
  • At least 4 years experience in financial analysis.
  • At least 4 years experience with financial modeling.
  • At least 1 year of experience managing a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master's Degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • At least 6 years of experience in financial analysis.
  • At least 6 years of experience with financial modeling.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function.
