About the position

At Schwab, the Manager, Fraud/Risk Analyst plays a crucial role within the Banking Operations Transaction Risk Interdiction and Detection (TRIAD) team. This team is dedicated to providing an integrated risk management strategy that ensures predictable financial and operational performance, ultimately leading to successful outcomes for clients and shareholders. The Manager is responsible for optimizing client experience, minimizing fraud loss, and reducing operational burdens in assigned fraud prevention channels, which include Schwab MoveMoney products such as Wires, Journals, ACH, BillPay, and Checks, as well as the new account opening process. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of fraud models, whether developed in-house or sourced from third-party vendors, to effectively interdict fraudulent behavior while maintaining operational efficiency and enhancing client experience. This role requires a proactive approach to managing workloads, anticipating challenges, and adapting strategies to ensure efficient resolutions. The Manager must demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, enabling them to orchestrate multiple activities simultaneously to achieve set goals. In addition to organizational prowess, the Manager must exhibit a results-oriented problem-solving style, ensuring high-quality outcomes delivered in a timely manner. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effectively collaborating across functions, maintaining composure in stressful situations, and managing expectations with both technical partners and business stakeholders. A client-focused mindset is critical, as the Manager must build and maintain efficient relationships with clients, earning their trust and respect.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize client experience and minimize fraud loss in assigned fraud prevention channels.
  • Manage operational burdens associated with fraud prevention processes.
  • Utilize fraud models to interdict fraudulent behavior effectively.
  • Collaborate with technical partners and business stakeholders to ensure effective communication and problem resolution.
  • Analyze historical transactions to derive actionable insights and develop fraud strategies.
  • Prepare and present findings to team members, senior leadership, and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in financial services focusing on transactional fraud and new account fraud.
  • Strong understanding and experience with fraud risk decision strategy development.
  • Experience working with fraud model vendors such as Actimize, ThreatMetrix, and Qualifile.
  • Strong SQL experience (5+ years) with platforms like Oracle, Teradata, and Google BigQuery.
  • 3+ years of data analytics experience in a fraud risk management environment.
  • Ability to translate data into actionable fraud strategies and summarize key findings effectively.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
