About the position

The Manager, Accounting position at Hyundai GLOVIS America Inc. is primarily responsible for preparing financial statements and financial reporting packages, managing balance sheet accounts, and conducting financial analyses. This role involves overseeing the month-end close process, ensuring compliance with GAAP and IFRS standards, and coordinating the annual audit process. The manager will also lead a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support for their professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
  • Manage all aspects of financial reporting, including the month-end close process and financial statements.
  • Manage balance sheet account schedules and conduct reconciliations for open balances.
  • Analyze financial statement results and identify areas for improvement or investigation.
  • Manage inter-company accounting transactions and reconciliation.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and provide suggestions/advice for procedure/policy changes accordingly.
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of the annual audit process, including preparation of audit schedules and responses to auditor requests.
  • Ensure compliance with all audit requirements and maintain documentation for audit findings.
  • Work closely with external auditors to provide information and support throughout the audit process.
  • Develop and maintain documentation to support compliance with SOX regulations.
  • Implement and monitor controls to ensure compliance with SOX regulations.
  • Manage fixed asset and lease accounting transactions and reconciliations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize fixed asset and lease accounting processes and improve efficiency.
  • Manage the team's daily tasks by offering guidance, training, and support to foster their professional growth and development.
  • Assign tasks, establish priorities, and ensure the timely completion of deliverables.
  • Prepare and review transfer pricing documentation and reports.
  • Manage a team of accounting professionals, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Maintain General ledger accounts in ERP system.
  • Manage the month-end close schedule and oversee the timely completion of month-end closing activities.
  • Coordinate with the team to ensure adherence to the monthly close schedule and meet reporting deadlines.
  • Participate in the implementation of new accounting software or system upgrades.
  • Document policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.
  • Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • 7-10 years of direct experience in accounting required.
  • 4-7 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Proficient PC skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, database management systems required.
  • Intermediate level Excel knowledge required.
  • Proficiency in SAP or other ERP systems required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • High level of interpersonal skills required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Korean preferred.
  • 8-13 years of direct experience in accounting preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
