About the position

As the General Accounting Manager for the HVACR Americas Business, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the General Accounting Department. This position is based in our Sidney, OH location and involves managing a team of accounting professionals to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. You will be responsible for maintaining accounting records and supporting the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports for management. Your leadership will be crucial in guiding your team to meet strict deadlines while balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you will lead the General Accounting Department, which includes direct supervision and skill development of Accounting/Consolidations Supervisors and Analysts. You will review key reconciliations and analyses of complex accrual accounts, such as Sales Returns and Allowances, Warranty, and Legal. Ensuring that consolidated HVACR Americas financial statements are compliant with US GAAP is a critical responsibility. You will also be tasked with implementing and maintaining controls within the accounting function to protect the financial assets of the business. Regular interaction with various departments, including Tax, Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Receivable, will be essential to resolve issues and pursue opportunities related to the business. You will lead your team in identifying and resolving issues while implementing process improvements to facilitate the monthly close process and ensure accurate financial reporting. Additionally, you will participate in department and company-wide projects, maintain the Global Chart of Accounts, and ensure the timely preparation and consolidation of financial information for management reporting. Your role will also involve reviewing balance sheet accounts for reasonableness and accuracy, manual journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses for month-end close. You will manage the fieldwork of internal and external auditors, ensuring timely completion of financial and other audits, and assist legal entities within the business with ad hoc questions, including technical accounting and HFM inquiries. Participation in cross-functional projects and providing ad-hoc analysis as needed will also be part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the General Accounting Department for the HVACR Americas Business.
  • Supervise and develop skills of Accounting/Consolidations Supervisors and Analysts.
  • Review key reconciliations and analyses of complex accrual accounts.
  • Ensure consolidated HVACR Americas financial statements comply with US GAAP.
  • Implement and maintain controls within the accounting function.
  • Interact with departments including Tax, Payroll, Accounts Payable and Receivable.
  • Identify and resolve issues while implementing process improvements.
  • Participate in department and company-wide projects with finance, IT, and business contacts.
  • Maintain the Global Chart of Accounts for the Business.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation and consolidation of financial information for reporting to Management.
  • Review balance sheet accounts for reasonableness and accuracy.
  • Review manual journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses for month-end close.
  • Review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for Company and Government reporting requirements.
  • Manage fieldwork of internal and external auditors and ensure timely completion of audits.
  • Assist legal entities with ad hoc questions including technical accounting and HFM questions.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and provide ad-hoc analysis as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • 5 or more years of relevant general accounting experience, including supervisory/management experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and cost accounting theories and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including linked spreadsheets, complex formulas, and pivot tables.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and balance multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work productively in a team and independently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience with Oracle financial applications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) including advanced functions.
  • Knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management software.
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools (Domo, Power BI, Power Query).
  • Advanced Excel Skills.
  • CPA and/or CMA certification(s).
  • Prior public accounting experience.
