About the position

The Global Technical Product Manager will play a pivotal role in leading the global technical efforts for a customer product across various corporate facilities where the customer blade technology is produced. This position emphasizes the importance of engaging with key stakeholders to ensure that both customer and corporate technical expectations are met. The incumbent will be responsible for fostering a strong technical relationship with the customer, which is crucial for the success of the product. Key internal stakeholders include the Global Technical Program Director, Regional and site Quality and Engineering heads, Regional Ops Leadership, Business Development Directors, Program Managers, and global engineering teams. In this role, the Global Technical Product Manager will provide technical expertise throughout all phases of the business development cycle, from the initial stages through to the launch and operationalization of new or updated products. The position requires strong technical skills, particularly in composites and blade manufacturing, as well as solid project management capabilities. The ability to effectively collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders is essential. Additionally, the incumbent must possess excellent presentation skills to engage with sales, technical teams, and leadership effectively. The position reports directly to the Global Technical Program Director, and further details regarding the organizational setup will be provided during the personal interview.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering activities associated with the development of new products.
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with cost, schedule, technical requirements, and established engineering practices to meet program commitments.
  • Coordinate the engineering cost (BOM), schedule, and technical inputs to support the business development team in providing a competitive and executable bid for new or renewed business.
  • Support the technical relationship with and for the client led by the Global Technical Program Director.
  • Ensure product requirements are understood, quoted, and managed in production.
  • Develop quality, process, and tooling plans and MPP elements with site operational management.
  • Utilize corporate engineering systems as a basis for each new product and in support of ongoing operations.
  • Standardize processes and approaches across operational sites for clients and assure best practices are assimilated across sites.
  • Interface with program management, engineering cost account managers, design teams, and functional engineering organizations to resolve program requirements issues and ambiguities in design during the product development phase.
  • Support the development of engineering projects and plans with site operational management.
  • Ensure that the engineering staff adheres to approved plans by attending project control meetings, design reviews, and communicating regularly with cost account managers.
  • Review all technical changes to requirements from program managers and ensure customer sign-off on all engineering changes.
  • Coordinate the analysis of the impact of technical changes to schedule/budget and ensure implementation and consistent design integrity.
  • Review and monitor engineering metrics on the product and provide technical support to program managers.
  • Mentor less experienced Engineers and Engineering Leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of work experience or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of Engineering Management/Supervision Experience.
  • 5+ years of Technical Product/Program Management Experience.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in wind blade manufacturing.
  • Experience in a global organization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience leading teams through impact/influence rather than direct reporting lines.
  • Scientific or Engineering degree highly desirable.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; a further European language is desirable.
  • Very good knowledge of MS-Office.
