About the position

The Manager of Government Relations & Public Policy at HawkEye 360 is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key Congressional staff and Members of Congress. This role involves developing advocacy strategies to promote the company's programs and policy initiatives, monitoring legislative activities, and preparing senior leadership for engagements with government officials. The position requires a proactive approach to influence actions that affect the company's interests and to represent HawkEye 360 at various industry events.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and sustain enduring relationships with key Committee staff and Members of Congress.
  • Devise and implement advocacy strategies and action plans to advance HawkEye 360 programs and policy initiatives.
  • Anticipate, understand, react, shape, and influence Congressional and Executive Branch actions that impact the company's interests.
  • Monitor appropriation and authorization activities for funding and programs relevant to HawkEye 360.
  • Monitor relevant subcommittee and full committee hearings, markups, and floor votes.
  • Prepare and advance hearing questions and questions for the record centered on HawkEye 360 priorities.
  • Prepare senior leadership for meetings with Members of Congress, Committee staff, and Executive Branch Officials.
  • Coordinate and write congressional white papers and memos.
  • Represent HawkEye 360 at fundraisers, industry, and trade association events.
  • Maintain an updated database of HawkEye 360 government- and policy-related engagements and points of contact.
  • Engage in industry association activities and participate in events of interest to HawkEye 360.
  • Participate in developing and executing the HawkEye 360 Employee Action Fund (PAC) plan, including PAC management activities.
  • Support foreign government and international public policy engagements.
  • Consult and engage with other HawkEye 360 employees to develop engagement strategies and plans.
  • Manage consultants as required.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree (any field).
  • Experience working on or with Capitol Hill for at least 5 years.
  • Experience working on defense- or intelligence-related matters is a plus.
  • Understanding of the Federal budgeting, authorization, and appropriations process.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills in relevant business environments with collaboration skills.
  • Willing and able to work in a dynamic environment and possess an innovative spirit.
  • Effective in working with people at all levels of an organization and willing to contribute wherever needed, providing leadership to operational activities as well as senior executives.
  • Diplomacy, influencing, communication and team skills.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Eligible for a TS/SCI security clearance; holding an active security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Higher-level degrees are a plus (e.g. Masters, Ph.D., J.D.).
