About the position

The Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) Manager at the Virginia Community Healthcare Association (VCHA) is responsible for overseeing procurement processes that enable member organizations to achieve cost savings through bulk purchasing. This role involves strategic management of vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and ensuring member satisfaction while maximizing the benefits of group purchasing.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage procurement processes for the VCHA GPO.
  • Identify and build relationships with potential service/product vendors.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with key vendors, addressing issues and identifying opportunities to improve terms.
  • Negotiate contracts with interested vendors for GPO participation.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for GPO members, providing updates on contracts, product availability, and savings opportunities.
  • Develop and manage the GPO's operational budget, tracking costs against savings generated for members.
  • Produce regular reports summarizing contract savings, usage data, and performance metrics for stakeholders and GPO members.
  • Educate new members on procurement processes, contract terms, and benefits of participation, and conduct training sessions for existing members.
  • Solicit sponsorship from GPO vendors and other service/product vendors for conferences and summits.
  • Monitor compliance of vendor contracts to ensure accurate and timely payments from vendors to VCHA.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience managing vendor relationships.
  • Ability to analyze data and produce reports on contract savings and performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with GPO members and vendors.
  • Experience in budget management and tracking financial performance.
