About the position

The position at Ford Motor Company involves leading the Guest Experience Platform (GXP) team, which is focused on transforming the automotive service experience for Ford and Lincoln customers. The role emphasizes technical leadership, collaboration with external partners, and the establishment of best practices in software engineering to enhance customer experiences through innovative digital products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Build and mentor high-performing engineering teams (3-5), fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Partner with External SaaS providers, product management, and design teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
  • Establish and promote best practices in software engineering, including Agile methodologies (e.g., XP, TDD, BDD).
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop talented software engineers and engineering leaders.
  • Provide technical guidance and feedback on product designs and architectures, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Drive improvements in the engineering delivery pipeline, reducing cycle time and enhancing quality.
  • Identify and resolve major technical roadblocks and risks, ensuring successful product delivery.
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across multiple product teams.
  • Partner with product leadership to establish and track key results aligned with business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field or a combination of education and equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience in web, mobile, API, or full-stack development.
  • 4+ years of experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
  • 3+ years of experience with Agile methodologies (e.g., XP, TDD, BDD) and DevOps practices (CI/CD, etc.).
  • 3+ years of experience with modern technology stacks (e.g., Java, ReactJS, or similar).

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field.
  • Post-purchase customer experience in the automotive industry.
  • Experience building and maintaining distributed, service-oriented systems.
  • Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
