About the position

Supermicro is seeking an experienced Hardware Design Manager to lead the design and development of motherboards, a critical component of their server products. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to create high-performance motherboards while providing leadership and mentorship to the design team. The successful candidate will ensure product quality and compliance with engineering specifications and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Manager to optimize product specifications and analyze technical feasibility.
• Responsible for schematics capture, layout checking, BOM generation, and debugging/testing of server motherboards/add-on cards/backplane products.
• Work with layout engineers, validation engineers, software engineers, firmware engineers, and product engineers to resolve engineering issues early in the design process.
• Prepare technical documentation including product specifications, layout instructions, and test procedures.
• Ensure products conform to engineering specifications, EMC, energy regulations, and customer performance expectations.
• Provide technical support and documentation to contract manufacturers and production departments during product sampling and production stages.
• Support Technical Support Team and Field Application Engineers to ensure product quality throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

• Master's degree in electrical engineering with 5 years of experience or Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience working with x86 server/workstation boards.
• Deep understanding of X86 architecture and comprehensive knowledge of PCB layout, debugging tools, and software.
• In-depth knowledge of PCB layout, OrCAD/Allegro tools, circuit design, and PCB structure.
• Knowledge of high-speed circuit design and voltage regulation circuit design.
• Familiarity with digital scopes and high-speed bus measurement.
• Excellent organizational skills, problem-solving capabilities, and a strong ability to learn new technologies.
• Self-motivated and enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced environment.
