Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector has a need for a Hardware Engineering Manager 2 at its campus in Warner Robins, GA. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong engineering and leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance. The candidate will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate. The candidate needs the ability to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching. This position will lead a functional team of hardware engineers that support a diverse portfolio of programs. Our engineering teams provide world-class engineering solutions to the sustainment and modernization of mission systems for our customers. Our programs include development, sustainment, and IR&D programs for systems that include electronic warfare, radar, and avionics. This position is a dual role encompassing both technical and people leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight for engineering activities performed by the team.
  • Lead a team that implements many technologies and needs diverse engineering experiences.
  • Act as a thought leader of systems thinking and hardware engineering for both the team and the organization.
  • Perform as a senior hardware engineer to support programs and new business efforts, including hardware development plans, hardware requirements development, hardware design, and hardware integration and test strategies.
  • Oversee assigned elements using Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
  • Engage and collaborate with program and functional organizations to understand program resource needs to effectively meet program milestones.
  • Manage and maintain the day-to-day interfaces and communications between Program Management (PM), Engineering Functionals, Manufacturing, and Global Supply Chain.
  • Assess, track, and mitigate cost and schedule risk supported by quantitative and predictive analyses.
  • Facilitate internal meetings to support design, production, and problem resolution.
  • Utilize fundamental engineering principles to facilitate production and design changes within the project team that result in superior products within the program budget.
  • Lead the Hardware Engineering team that supports an exciting and diverse portfolio of programs.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to staff to ensure engineering projects meet performance objectives.
  • Responsible for direct management of staff and providing objective direction to the staff.
  • Execute, update, and maintain department procedures.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; OR 7 years of relevant experience with a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience designing hardware (e.g. CCA) for ruggedized military systems.
  • Experience in systems thinking and systems engineering best practices to engineering development programs.
  • Proven leadership skills as a people and technical leader, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance per business requirements.
  • Must be able to work at location in Warner Robins, GA.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as an engineering manager, hardware engineering lead, and/or chief engineer.
  • Firmware Design Experience.
  • Design experience for analog, digital and RF domains.
  • Active Secret Clearance.
