About the position

The Manager of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) at ATS Industrial Automation is responsible for promoting and implementing health, safety, and environmental programs in alignment with corporate standards. This role serves as an internal technical resource, providing guidance and training on various HSE issues, and conducting audits to ensure compliance with legislative and corporate requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Drive success in accident prevention through implementation of company programs to promote and improve health and safety.
  • Provide expertise and leadership in the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of health/safety hazards and compliance at the site.
  • Work closely with the team to identify risks and proactively develop/implement control methodologies for these risks.
  • Meet monthly with ATS Ohio Leadership team to discuss and evaluate progress on HSE activities, including safety plan targets and incident trends.
  • Drive compliance with HSE training by coordinating scheduling and providing internal training for ATS-specific program requirements.
  • Implement and monitor Contractor HSE Management program for the ATS Ohio division.
  • Support maintenance of customer-required Contractor HSE Management subscriptions compliance and assist with Supplier HSE Requirements submissions.
  • Monitor and audit field-related activities to ensure adherence to HSE programs.
  • Administer standardized plant HSE processes to ensure compliance with government regulations and corporate standards.
  • Drive attainment of organizational goals by eliminating environmental impacts and improving production efficiency while safeguarding employee health and safety.
  • Analyze injury/illness experience, identify root causes, and establish corrective action measures; analyze environmental incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Coordinate communication of HSE regulatory inspection activity with site leadership.
  • Participate in the development and continuous improvement of global HSE initiatives to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Provide and maintain accurate statistical data and reports on injury trends to support divisional accident reduction goals.
  • Participate in divisional Health & Safety Committee activities, ensuring regular meetings and inspections are conducted and follow-up actions are taken.
  • Review accident investigation reports to ensure timely internal and external reporting and participate in investigations as required.
  • Oversee workers' compensation claims management and assist in the resolution of claims as needed.
  • Ensure all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.

Requirements

  • Post secondary degree or diploma in a health and safety related discipline.
  • Minimum five years of hands-on health and safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of HSE regulatory framework in the USA.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple demands under tight timelines.
