About the position

SS&C Technologies is seeking a Manager for Hedge Fund/Private Equity Fund Accounting to join our dynamic team. This position is based in various locations including New York, Union, Boston, Atlanta, Harrison, and Dublin, with a hybrid work model available. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting a broad spectrum of business management and support activities for the Hedge Fund business. The team collaborates closely with US-based fund accountants who serve as daily points of contact for our hedge fund clients, ensuring that all accounting and reporting needs are met with precision and timeliness. In this role, you will be responsible for reconciling fund positions and securities to outside sources, ensuring that daily, monthly, and quarterly reports are delivered accurately and on time to clients. This includes managing accounting reconciliations, general ledger entries, profit and loss statements, compliance, and performance reporting. You will maintain strong relationships with various clients, leading operations, governance, and vendor review meetings to ensure client satisfaction and operational excellence. As a manager, you will oversee a small team of 1-2 employees, guiding their career advancement and providing hands-on training. You will also be involved in project management for client-specific initiatives, developing and implementing consistent policies and procedures, conducting business analysis, and reviewing operational workflows. Acting as an escalation point for the team, you will ensure that action plans are effectively implemented in case of any service issues, driving enhancement projects for technology and operational processes to improve efficiency and service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile the funds positions/securities to outside sources.
  • Ensure daily, monthly, and quarterly reports are delivered timely and accurately to clients, including accounting reconciliations, general ledger, profit and loss, compliance, and performance reporting.
  • Maintain relationships with various clients, including leading operations, governance, and vendor review meetings.
  • Manage career advancement for staff for a group of 1-2 employees.
  • Project management of client-specific initiatives.
  • Develop and implement consistent policies and procedures for clients including business analysis, new requirements, workflow, and operational review.
  • Act as an escalation point and problem solver for the team, ensuring action plans are implemented in case of any service issue.
  • Drive enhancement projects for technology and operational processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • Master's degree and/or CPA is a strong plus.
  • 4-8+ years' experience in Accounting or Back Office Operations working for a Prime Broker, Administrator, Hedge Fund, Investment Advisor or Audit firm.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and corporate actions.
  • Prior experience with various products including equities, fixed income, repurchase agreements, futures, FX, Mortgages and options.
  • Advanced MS Excel knowledge.
  • Solid hands-on supervisory experience and the ability to delegate effectively.
