About the position

The Host City Volunteer Manager for FIFA World Cup 2026 will oversee the volunteer program for the tournament in Seattle, ensuring effective recruitment, training, and management of volunteers. This role is crucial in enhancing the volunteer experience and supporting the overall success of the event, which will feature 48 teams across three countries. The manager will collaborate with various stakeholders to implement strategies that promote civic pride and community engagement through volunteering.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement local engagement, recruitment, training, and operational delivery plans for the city volunteer program.
  • Liaise with local stakeholders to support the implementation and execution of the volunteer program.
  • Collaborate with FIFA departments and external stakeholders to understand city volunteer needs and provide support accordingly.
  • Support centralized projects impacting all volunteers across the Tournament footprints.
  • Lead the operation of the city volunteer center for recruitment, training, and tournament time requirements.
  • Develop and implement training plans for volunteers to equip them with necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Become proficient in the FIFA Volunteer Platform to manage and support the volunteer experience.
  • Plan and execute city volunteer appreciation initiatives to recognize their efforts.
  • Manage and resolve city volunteer-related issues or conflicts in a timely manner.
  • Collate and manage localized volunteer program information for the Volunteer Contact Centre.
  • Analyze data and metrics related to city volunteer performance and feedback to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Implement continuous improvement strategies based on data analysis and feedback.
  • Oversee the Tournament experience of volunteers at non-competition venues and support match day operations.
  • Liaise with external organizations to coordinate additional volunteer support for specific events during the tournament.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and policies related to volunteer management and event operations.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for management and stakeholders on the volunteer program's progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or similar level of education.
  • Proven experience in events or volunteer management or project management.
  • Experience in local community engagement, preferably within the FIFA26 specific Host City.
  • Ability to create and foster productive working relationships with local authorities and volunteer groups.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Positive attitude, patience, and persistence.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing requirements and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a cross-functional team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluent in English; Spanish proficiency is a plus.
  • Understanding and use of Rosterfy (Volunteer Management system) is a plus.
