About the position

The Housing Operations Manager at Tyler Junior College is a full-time, twelve-month professional role responsible for managing housing operations and overseeing residence life functions. This position aims to ensure exceptional customer service and create a positive residential experience for students. The manager will supervise a large team of part-time staff, manage vendor relationships, and collaborate with various departments to maintain a safe and supportive living environment for residents.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the recruitment, training, supervision, and performance management of part-time staff.
• Serve as the primary contact for contracted vendors, ensuring service delivery meets community standards.
• Act as the liaison between the Residential Life and Housing Department and other TJC departments.
• Manage resident early arrivals and late departures, ensuring smooth transitions.
• Assist with student housing issues, including room assignments and billing inquiries.
• Review and respond to incoming Housing department emails to maintain effective communication.
• Coordinate summer camps and conference bookings, managing the billing process.
• Conduct regular walkthroughs of residence halls to assist Hall Managers.
• Assist with the residence hall placement process for all academic terms.
• Monitor and evaluate desk operations to ensure exceptional service is provided.
• Respond to resident complaints and issues as directed by the Assistant Directors of Housing Operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Experience in supervising and training staff.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree or equivalent preferred.
• One to three years of experience in a comparable position preferred.
• Familiarity with housing management software, such as StarRez.
