About the position

The Manager, HR (Austin) at MTM Transit plays a crucial role in supporting the organization's vision and goals by providing direct support to the Austin facility. This position involves managing labor relations and human resources matters, ensuring compliance with policies and contract requirements, and maintaining documentation for investigations and negotiations. The role is integral to fostering a collaborative and innovative company culture while directly impacting the communities served by MTM Transit.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to the Austin HR team.
  • Handle labor relations and HR inquiries related to policies and bargaining agreements.
  • Track information requests and grievance timelines to ensure adherence to contract requirements.
  • Serve as the initial contact for employee complaints and conduct assessments.
  • Gather information for employee relations matters and inform HR staff for further investigation.
  • Assist with recordkeeping related to hiring, termination, and promotions, particularly regarding EEO and diversity initiatives.
  • Maintain knowledge of company policies and employment law.
  • Collect data to assess cost and policy implications of negotiations and disputes.
  • Conduct research related to HR policies and labor negotiations and report findings to senior management.
  • Coordinate meetings between Union Officials, Employees, and Leadership.
  • Organize and maintain documentation related to collective bargaining agreements and arbitration decisions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • 3+ years' experience in Human Resources/Employee Relations or similar role required.
  • 2+ years' experience in a Union setting required.
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies and local, state, and federal employment/labor laws.

Nice-to-haves

  • SHRM certification preferred.
  • Experience working in the Transit industry preferred.
