About the position

As the Manager, Human Resources: Employee Experience & Civil Rights at Bucknell University, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with civil rights laws and policies. Your responsibilities will include evaluating and addressing complaints, contributing to civil rights investigations, and fostering a positive institutional culture. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to implement policies that support diversity, equity, and inclusion, while also managing employee relations and performance management initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate claims of discrimination and harassment involving students, employees, and third parties.
  • Collaborate with campus offices to ensure appropriate resources are available during investigations.
  • Assess and address culture concerns, providing conflict resolution consultation and coaching.
  • Manage employee relations matters, overseeing investigations into employee behavior and performance.
  • Advise supervisors on coaching strategies and ensure compliance with University policies and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate to ensure institutional compliance with Title IX and other relevant laws.
  • Work closely with various divisions on matters related to institutional equity and non-discrimination.
  • Serve as a resource for issues related to protected class discrimination and Title IX compliance.
  • Partner to assess and influence campus climate and culture, recommending solutions for retention and engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 3-5 years of experience in investigations, Title IX, employee relations, or civil rights; or an Associate's degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting fair and thorough investigations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Title IX regulations and civil rights laws.
  • Proven ability to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion through policy development and community engagement.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant software applications (e.g., MS Office Suite, HRIS).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with strong analytical abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in higher education or a service-oriented organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of employment law and HR policies and practices.
  • Training in mediation and alternative dispute resolution.
