About the position

In conjunction with the Senior Manager of the Service Center, the Manager of the Human Resources Service Center will oversee a dedicated team of HR staff focused on delivering timely, accurate, and responsive services to faculty and staff. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including onboarding, benefits enrollment and administration, managing various types of leaves such as Long-Term Disability (LTD), Paid Family Medical Leave (PFML), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), employment verification, unemployment claims, employee records management, and providing general HR policy information. The manager will also oversee the case and knowledge management system (Dovetail) to ensure data integrity and optimal service delivery by the HR staff. The position requires close collaboration with the Benefits Center of Expertise, HR Information Systems (HRIS), and HR Business Partners to ensure compliance with all relevant policies and regulations. The manager will be responsible for the enrollment and administration of all employee benefit and leave programs, which include retirement plans, health and welfare benefits, sick and vacation leave, disability insurance, and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance. A key aspect of this role is to ensure that all inquiries and concerns regarding benefits are resolved quickly, equitably, and courteously by the HR Service Center team, thereby enhancing the overall employee experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of HR staff providing services related to onboarding, benefits enrollment, and administration.
  • Oversee the case and knowledge management system (Dovetail) to ensure data integrity and optimal service delivery.
  • Administer all employee benefit and leave programs, including retirement, health & welfare, sick and vacation leave, and disability.
  • Collaborate with the Benefits Center of Expertise, HRIS, and HR Business Partners to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Resolve benefits inquiries and concerns quickly and courteously.
  • Support change management initiatives by creating HR processes that enhance service delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training, education, and relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Typically has 5 years of HR related experience including 1-2 years supervising staff.
  • Experience in Human Resources, preferably in Benefits and/or HR Service Center for a large organization.
  • HR experience in Higher Education is highly desirable.
  • Excellent customer service and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to create HR processes to support change management initiatives.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining ongoing training and development programs.
  • Knowledge of SAP HCM is desired.
