About the position

Within our Tracy, CA manufacturing facility, we are seeking a highly qualified Manager, Human Resources to lead our Human Resources team and continue moving our organization to even larger levels of people development, food safety, and product quality. The Manager, Human Resources leads and directs the administration of Human Resources policies, procedures, and programs, and champions the resolution for all plant-specific policy-related and procedural issues and inquiries. Position responsibilities are in the following functional areas: employee and labor relations, HR policy administration, HR core processes, learning & development, recruiting, staffing & retention, community relations, compensation, and health & safety. This role takes charge of HR operations in our 300+ person Tracy cheese and whey manufacturing plant, including the leadership, mentorship, and career development for all HR team members. The Manager will play a key role in driving the company's strong culture, succession management, organizational design, leadership development, and assessment. Additionally, the position involves planning, directing, and coordinating the labor relations activities of the Plant, including analyzing and interpreting the collective bargaining agreement and advising management and union officials in the development, application, and interpretation of labor relations policies and practices. The Manager will also recommend and implement practices necessary to establish positive working relationships and promote a higher level of morale, while improving existing practices and procedures to continue hiring a remarkable workforce for both exempt and non-exempt level positions. Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the administration of Human Resources policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Champion the resolution for all plant-specific policy-related and procedural issues and inquiries.
  • Oversee employee and labor relations, HR policy administration, HR core processes, learning & development, recruiting, staffing & retention, community relations, compensation, and health & safety.
  • Take charge of HR operations in the Tracy cheese and whey manufacturing plant.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and career development for all HR team members.
  • Drive the company's strong culture, succession management, organizational design, leadership development, and assessment.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate labor relations activities, including analyzing and interpreting the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Advise management and union officials in the development, application, and interpretation of labor relations policies and practices.
  • Recommend and implement practices to establish positive working relationships and promote morale.
  • Improve existing practices and procedures to hire a remarkable workforce for both exempt and non-exempt positions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or similar program, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions, with a substantial portion in a manufacturing operation.
  • Experience in providing value-added HR coaching, guidance, thought leadership, and HR business partnership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in administering labor relations policies and contract agreements, collective bargaining, grievance management, and contract negotiations.
  • Technically sound in Human Resources fundamentals and best practices and their application in manufacturing operations.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal employment laws and practices.
  • Broad knowledge of safety, training and development, employee relations, performance management, and organizational planning.
  • Working knowledge of benefits and compensation programs.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Familiar with industrial operations, preferably dairy or food manufacturing.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Superior negotiating and problem resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop Human Resources staff members.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Creative thinker with a process improvement mindset.
  • Strong planning/time management skills and balancing of resources.
