About the position

The Manager I, Community Engagement at Goodwill of Colorado is a full-time position responsible for developing and executing strategies to enhance the organization's visibility and engagement within local communities throughout Colorado. This role involves working closely with retail stores across the state to connect social enterprise colleagues with Goodwill's mission. The Manager will report directly to the Director of Customer Experience and Marketing and will play a crucial role in building and maintaining relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and volunteers to support Goodwill's mission. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing community outreach programs aimed at increasing awareness and support for Goodwill's mission and services. The Manager will identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with key community partners, including businesses, schools, civic organizations, and other nonprofits. Additionally, the Manager will represent Goodwill at community events, meetings, and forums to promote the organization's programs and services. The position also requires planning, organizing, and executing community engagement events at retail stores, collaborating with internal teams to ensure successful event logistics, and monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of these events. The Manager will work with Store Managers to engage social enterprise workers with Goodwill's mission and will support the communications team in developing outreach materials and compelling stories that highlight the impact of Goodwill's programs. Data management and reporting are also essential functions of this role, as the Manager will track and report on community engagement activities and maintain accurate records of volunteer participation and community partnerships. Regular updates will be provided to the VP of Marketing and Development on the progress and impact of community engagement efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement community outreach programs to increase awareness and support for Goodwill's mission and services.
  • Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with key community partners, including businesses, schools, civic organizations, and other nonprofits.
  • Represent Goodwill at community events, meetings, and forums to promote the organization's programs and services.
  • Plan, organize, and execute community engagement events at retail stores.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful event logistics, including marketing, registration, and on-site coordination.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of events and activities, adjusting as needed to improve future initiatives.
  • Work with Store Managers across Colorado to 'adopt a program' from within Goodwill of Colorado's suite of programs.
  • Work with the communications team to develop and distribute outreach materials, including newsletters, brochures, and social media content.
  • Assist in creating compelling stories and testimonials that highlight the impact of Goodwill's programs and services.
  • Maintain an updated calendar of community events and opportunities for engagement.
  • Track and report on community engagement activities and outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer participation and community partnerships.
  • Provide regular updates to the VP of Marketing and Development on the progress and impact of community engagement efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, or business management related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience in sales, business development and account management.
  • 5-8 years of experience in community engagement, volunteer management, or nonprofit program coordination.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse community members and stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for community events.
