About the position

The Manager I - Desktop Engineering is a pivotal role within Navy Federal, responsible for leading the desktop engineering team to ensure high-quality service delivery and operational excellence. This position involves managing professionals and leaders, with a strong focus on performance and results. The Manager I will guide the team in adhering to established policies, resources, and business plans, ensuring that the team's output meets the organization's quality, volume, and timeliness objectives. The role requires a proactive approach to overseeing day-to-day activities, providing 24x7 support and guidance to team members and assistant managers, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. In this role, the Manager I will be responsible for monitoring metric and Service Level Agreement (SLA) adherence, coaching technical staff through both new and routine tasks, and identifying opportunities for service improvement. The position also entails overseeing technical compliance with organizational directives and standards related to the systems under management. The Manager I will ensure that all programs and projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Additionally, the role includes tracking data and writing reports on team objectives and metrics, as well as maintaining desktop services throughout the organization by effectively assigning resources. The Manager I will also oversee supervisory functions, including conducting performance evaluations, facilitating team meetings, and holding one-on-one sessions with team members. Building and maintaining relationships with supporting vendors is another critical aspect of this role, ensuring that vendor performance aligns with contractual obligations. This position is essential for driving the success of the desktop engineering team and contributing to the overall mission of Navy Federal.

Responsibilities

  • Provides 24x7 support and guidance to team and assistant managers
  • Oversees metric and SLA adherence
  • Coaches technical staff through new and routine tasks
  • Identifies and oversees service improvement opportunities
  • Oversees technical adherence to organization directives, standards and instructions relating to systems under management
  • Oversees all programs and projects ensuring on time, on budget, quality delivery
  • Tracks data and writes reports on team objectives and metrics
  • Monitors and maintains desktop services throughout the organization, assigning resources to ensure operations
  • Oversees supervisor functions including performance evaluations, team meetings, one on ones
  • Maintains relationships with supporting vendors

Requirements

  • 3 years systems management experience including Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and/or JAMF Apple Device Management
  • 3 years experience with advanced troubleshooting of Windows and/or Mac end points
  • 3 years experience coordinating change management activities
  • 3 years experience communicating at the enterprise level in regards to project and operational topics
  • 3 years experience analyzing and mitigating operating system and application vulnerabilities with Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac and various applications
  • 3 years experience managing vendor performance as it relates to contractual obligations
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience
